Position Overview
- The Senior Accountant manages daily financial operations, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, statutory compliance, management reporting, inventory, and cost accounting. This role supports the Finance & Operations Controller to ensure accurate, compliant financial data while driving process improvements and financial clarity across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate QuickBooks entries, ledgers, journals, and fixed assets.
- Perform bank and mobile money reconciliations, manage petty cash, and flag anomalies.
- Compile and validate payroll, prepare statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, NITA), and reconcile for approval.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, maintain compliance documentation, and support EPZA filings and audits.
- Support monthly accounts, revenue/COGS recognition, variance analysis, and supplier/expense reporting.
- Prepare customer- and order-level profitability reports, analyse production costs and inventory, and support costing improvements.
- Perform inventory reconciliations, review GRNs and supplier invoices, and support stock takes.
- Prepare audit schedules and evidence, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Support financial process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and improve templates/workflows.
- Communicate with the F&O Controller, collaborate with production, merchandising, and HR, and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (K) or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a cost accounting or production finance role.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Mid to advanced skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets, including pivot table creation and advanced formulas.
- Process-oriented, with a clear understanding of manufacturing workflows and cost structures.
