Job Description

Youth for Integrity Building (YIB) is a youth-led, non-partisan, non-profit organization working to promote integrity, accountability, and inclusive governance through civic education, community dialogue, and movement building. YIB works closely with young people to strengthen their voice, dignity, and participation in public decision-making. YIB is now hiring a Project Lead for the Kilifi Women for Water Justice Initiative (KW4WJ) Project
  • Duration: 10 months (February 2026 – November 2026) 
  • Time Commitment: Part-time (32 hours per week) 
  • Location: Kilifi County 

About the Project 
  • The Kilifi Women for Water Justice Initiative (KW4WJ) seeks to strengthen women’s leadership and collective action in Kilifi County to influence equitable, transparent, and accountable water governance. The project applies participatory tools, community dialogues, and evidence-based advocacy to amplify lived experiences and support women and youth to engage constructively with duty bearers.

Role Purpose 
  • YIB is seeking a Project Lead with strong community facilitation and safeguarding competencies to oversee the day-to-day coordination and implementation of the KW4WJ project. The role integrates project management, participatory facilitation, and safeguarding-aware engagement with women and youth. This is a non-clinical role. The post holder will not be required to provide counselling but must be able to facilitate safely, identify risks, and activate referral pathways when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Coordination and Management 
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and implementation of project activities 
  • Coordinate with YIB leadership, partners, and local stakeholders 
  • Ensure project activities align with approved work plans and timelines 
  • Support narrative and basic financial reporting to the donor
Community Facilitation and Movement Building 
  • Facilitate women’s circles, reflection sessions, and community dialogues 
  • Guide the application of the Kilifi Climate Accountability Scorecard and the Well-being and Water Toolkit 
  • Support women and youth to develop advocacy messages and engage duty bearers 
  • Document community insights, learning, and emerging outcomes
Safeguarding, Well-being, and Ethical Engagement 
  • Apply trauma-informed and gender-sensitive facilitation approaches 
  • Create safe, respectful, and inclusive spaces for participation 
  • Identify safeguarding risks and support referrals through established pathways 
  • Uphold YIB’s values of integrity, accountability, and the do-no-harm principle
Monitoring, Learning, and Reflection 
  • Track progress using simple tools and participatory indicators 
  • Support reflection sessions with women’s circles 
  • Contribute to learning notes and adaptive project improvements

Qualifications and Experience 
  • Diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Gender Studies, Governance, or a related field 
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in community-based programming (experience in women, youth, governance, climate, or water-related work is an added advantage) 
  • Demonstrated experience in community facilitation, organization, and engagement 
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and ethical community practice 
  • Strong communication and documentation skills 
  • Familiarity with Kilifi County contexts and issues affecting water-constrained areas 
  • Fluency in Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages spoken in Kilifi County is a strong advantage
