Job Description
The Anga Center is a research-based institution dedicated to advancing climate justice, health equity, and community well-being in East Africa. The center conducts transdisciplinary research and collaborates closely with climate-vulnerable and historically marginalized communities to understand climate-related health impacts and test locally appropriate interventions. The Anga Center headquarters is based at ICAP in Nairobi, Kenya. ICAP is seeking two qualified candidates to serve as fixed term contract Community Data Collectors (CDCs) for a multi-country research project on climate, extreme weather, mental health, well-being, violence, and localized early warning systems. The CDC will support high-quality, ethical, and safe community-based data collection and related field activities within the ward to which they are assigned. The CDC will report directly to the Field Supervisor within the Anga Community Team.The role is expected to run for approximately 27 months, subject to funding, ethics approvals, operational readiness, and satisfactory performance.

- Mombasa County - Mvita Sub-County – Chuda-Moroto Ward
- Project: Developing and testing localized early warning systems for selected climate-vulnerable communities Kenya
- Organisation: Anga Center for Climate Justice, Health Equity, and Community Well-being in East Africa at ICAP/ Columbia University,
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and manage high-quality, accurate community data.
- Engage with local communities to gather information relevant to climate and health research.
- Ensure ethical data collection and maintain confidentiality of participants.
- Collaborate with the research team to report findings and insights.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience in community engagement, research, or data collection preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with data collection tools and methods is an advantage.
- Commitment to ethical research and sensitivity to vulnerable populations.
