Job Description

Dream Achievers Youth Organization (DAYO) is a youth-led Public Benefit Organization registered under the former NGO’s Coordination Board with Registration Number OP.218/051/21-479/12560 and is based in Mombasa, Kenya. DAYO focuses on strengthening the capacity of young people across key thematic areas including community engagement and empowerment, health financing, media engagement, livelihoods development, entrepreneurship incubation, and youth-centered policy advocacy. The organization also intentionally works with socially excluded populations such as persons with disabilities, sexual and gender minorities, and young people.
Position: Baseline Enumerators
  • Engagement Type: Short-term assignment
  • Duration: 5 working days
  • Location: Ziwa la Ng’ombe, Bangladeshi, Mkomani Ward, Chaani Ward, Bamburi Ward, and Junda Ward – Mombasa County
  • Reporting to: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Job Summary
  • The assignment aims to gather accurate, reliable, and high-quality baseline data from selected communities. This data will be used to set benchmarks for measuring project progress and outcomes over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection: Administer household surveys, conduct focus group discussions (FGDs), and carry out key informant interviews (KIIs) using approved and standardized tools.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure all collected data is complete, consistent, and accurate, and verify entries before submission.
  • Digital Data Collection: Capture and submit data daily using mobile data collection platforms such as KoboCollect, ODK, or Survey CTO.
  • Ethical Compliance: Seek informed consent from participants, maintain confidentiality, and uphold ethical research and safeguarding standards.
  • Daily Reporting: Take part in daily debrief sessions with supervisors to report progress, challenges, and field observations.

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Community Development, Public Health, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of proven experience conducting household surveys, baseline studies, or similar qualitative and quantitative research activities.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Kiswahili; familiarity with local dialects spoken in Mombasa County is an added advantage.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to use electronic data collection tools and basic data processing skills using Microsoft Excel or similar software.

Selected enumerators will receive orientation/training and data collection tools prior to deployment.
