Job Description

The University of Nairobi, a body corporate established under the Universities Act 2012 of the laws of Kenya and the University of Nairobi Charter, is the pioneer institution of University education in Kenya and the region.  The University of Nairobi, Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics at the Faculty of Health Sciences is implementing the  Ndovu Study a two-year multi-site, multi-county study

Job Specification:
  •  A Degree or Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Counselling, Psychology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in counseling or support roles within healthcare settings, preferably in HIV care.
  • Prior experience working within HIV clinic set-up in a public hospital
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Empathy and strong interpersonal skills to build trustful relationships with participants.
  • Proficiency in data entry and management using electronic health records or similar systems.
  • A Certificate of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is a MUST
  • One must have a current certificate in Human Subject Protection
  • One must have a practicing licence by the Counsellors & Psychologist Board
  • Additional training in adherence counseling or motivational interviewing techniques is beneficial.
  • Experience in clinical studies is an added advantage

Tenure and Terms of Appointment:
  • The tenure of this job is one (1) year, appointment on contract which includes a 3 month probation period. Renewal is based on performance, mutual agreement and
availability of funds
