- We are seeking to hire a highly organised, detail-oriented and disciplined Accountant to oversee our organisation’s financial operations. The primary objective of this role is to establish and maintain a standard of financial management that ensures the organisation maintains complete, accurate, and verifiable financial records, complies fully with statutory obligations and meets the financial reporting requirements of donors, partners and regulators.

Scope of Work
- Financial Management and Record-Keeping
- You will be required to maintain comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This includes ensuring that all financial transactions are properly authorised, documented, classified, and securely filed in both digital and physical systems, safeguarding the integrity and reliability of the organisation’s financial records.
- You will be required to prepare and present timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to management to support strategic and operational decision-making. The job involves monitoring budget execution, conducting variance analysis, and advising management on financial risks and sustainability to ensure prudent use of organisational resources.
- You will establish and maintain rigorous documentation and verification processes to ensure that all financial transactions are supported by verifiable evidence. You will also coordinate internal and external audits, liaise with auditors, facilitate access to required records, and implement audit recommendations to strengthen accountability and compliance.
- You are responsible for managing all tax-related and statutory obligations, including the timely preparation, filing, and payment of required returns and levies. Ensure that the organisation remains fully compliant with Kenya Revenue Authority requirements and other applicable fiscal and regulatory frameworks.
- You are expected to design, implement, and continuously review internal financial controls, systems, and workflows to safeguard organisational assets and prevent financial mismanagement. You will identify financial and operational risks, recommend mitigation measures, and support the adoption of appropriate financial management tools to enhance efficiency, transparency, and governance.
Experience and Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Fully qualified CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Google Sheets, QuickBooks Online) and ERP systems.
- A good understanding of Kenyan financial and tax laws.
- Demonstrated experience in NGO, donor-funded or non-profit financial management is an added advantage.
- Proven ability to work independently, maintain strict deadlines, and communicate effectively through digital collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Project Management software).
