Who We Are
  1. The East Africa Tea Trade Association (EATTA) is a voluntary, non-profit umbrella body representing the interests of the tea industry in Africa. We are seeking a qualified and motivated Accountant to join our team in Mombasa.

About the Role
  1. The Accountant will be responsible for implementing the Association’s financial systems and procedures, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the Finance & Administration Manager in financial management and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and update financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards. Prepare monthly and quarterly expenditure and income reports.
  • Accounts Management:
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments, collections, issuance of invoices, and customer accounts’ updates.
  • Reconciliations:
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for system entries, statutory deductions, supplier payments, bank, and any other reconciliations that may be required.
  • Tax & Statutory Compliance:
  • Process payroll, ensure accurate statutory deductions, and handle timely submissions. Implement internal controls and examine payment processes for accuracy.
  • Audit Support:
  • Prepare and organize documentation to support internal and external audits.
  • Financial Planning:
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining accurate accounting records. Provide feedback to enhance business processes and initiate process improvement to achieve operational excellence.
  • Other Duties:
  • Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Excel.
  • Membership with ICPAK in good standing will be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge and experience of QuickBooks will be an added advantage.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management experience will be an added advantage.
  • Strong presentation, analytical, negotiation, and systems management skills.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

Job Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work (fieldwork and some travel may be required).
